MMBC Strengthens National Voice

Meetings Mean Business Canada held its Annual General Meeting on March 26, marking an important moment for the organization’s growth and leadership.

A key highlight was the welcome of the Alliance de l’industrie touristique du Québec (AITQ) as MMBC’s newest member supporter (at the Platinum level) and the first provincial tourism association to join the organization.

This new partnership is a significant step in strengthening Québec’s presence within Canada’s business events sector and will support stronger federal advocacy, greater collaboration and access to strategic industry data, including through the new Canadian Business Events Economic Impact Study. This partnership will also allow MMBC to expand its presence in Québec by leveraging the knowledge of Québec’s tourism businesses, as well as the Alliance’s expertise and network.

Geneviève Cantin, President and CEO of the Alliance, has joined the MMBC Board of Directors, ensuring direct representation for Québec within the organization.

“MMBC is delighted to welcome the Alliance as our first provincial tourism association member and to have Geneviève Cantin on our Board of Directors,” said Bradley Sutherland, MMBC board member and incoming Chair. “Québec is a vital part of Canada’s business events landscape, and this partnership strengthens our national voice while ensuring stronger representation and greater impact for the sector across the country.”

During the AGM, the MMBC board re-elected seven directors: David Campbell, Encore Global; Kurby Court, TELUS Calgary Convention Centre; Bianca Kennedy, Newcom/CAEM Past Chair; Krista Marie LeClair, Visit Kingston; Angie Pfeifer, IG Wealth Management; Jennifer Spear, Canadian Association of Professional Speakers; and David Woodward, Tourism Calgary.

2026 also marks a leadership transition at the Executive Committee level. After two years serving as Chair and board member, Minto Schneider has stepped into the new role of Executive Director. Bradley Sutherland will serve as Chair for 2026–27, and Kurby Court has joined the Executive Committee as Vice Chair.
