Global Meetings Industry Day 2024

April 11, 2024

Global Meetings Industry Day (GMID) recognizes the positive social and economic benefits that meetings, trade shows, exhibitions, conferences, conventions and incentive travel programs bring to people, businesses and communities.

It’s not just an international day of celebration. It’s an opportunity to remind elected officials that business events are:

  • A catalyst for collaboration, investment and trade
  • A critical source of business income, high-value jobs and tax revenue
  • An opportunity to leverage Canada’s key economic sectors to a global audience

HERE ARE 4 WAYS TO GET INVOLVED

USE YOUR VOICE: We’ve created a TOOL KIT filled with GMID collateral — logos, videos, infographics, social media assets and a fact sheet — that you can use in your communication channels to amplify the important social and economic impacts that business events have on the lives of people in your destination.

ATTEND A GMID EVENT: All across Canada, industry associations are hosting educational and networking get-togethers on April 11. DISCOVER A GMID EVENT NEAR YOU.

LIGHTING UP BLUE: On April 11, convention centres, meeting venues, hotels and attractions across the country will light up in blue to mark GMID 2024. Be sure to use #LightingUpBlue and #GMID2024 in social media and tag Meetings Mean Business Canada so that we can share your posts.

INVOLVE ELECTED OFFICIALS:

Call or send a letter to your Member of Parliament.

Provide your local, provincial, territorial and federal representatives with this Proclamation template so that they can declare their support for the business events sector. Share the signed proclamation with us and we’ll post it here.
