MMBC BOARD OF DIRECTORS
Meetings Mean Business Canada (MMBC) seeks qualified individuals for election to the Board of Directors for a two-year term beginning immediately following the 2022 Annual General Meeting on November 21, 2022 and ending immediately after the 2024 Annual General Meeting. MMBC Board seats are volunteer positions without remuneration.
MMBC is an industry-wide coalition dedicated to the development, growth and international competitiveness of Canada’s meetings and business events industry. Our coalition communicates to decision makers at all levels of government the positive social and economic benefits of hosting conferences, conventions, trade shows, exhibitions, business meetings and incentive travel programs in Canada.

The MMBC Board of Directors is made up of a maximum of 20 directors. MMBC is seeking a total of five (5) candidates for the 2023–2024 term. The Nominating Committee is responsible for building a diverse, strategic and knowledgeable Board with proper geographic, industry and sector representation.
All Board directors should be qualified, competent and have a strong sense of ethics and integrity. Acceptance of nominations is based on a specific set of skills and experience.
Ideal candidates demonstrate these core competencies:
- Senior leader in the business events industry
- Advocacy or government relations experience
- Previous board experience
Time Commitment: Board members are expected to participate in all Board meetings (held virtually), participate in-person at MMBC’s Annual General Meeting and participate on a committee.
If you are a MMBC Member Supporter in good standing, we invite you to nominate a qualified candidate. All nominees must either be a MMBC Member Supporter or be willing to become a Member Supporter for, at minimum, the term of the Board position. MMBC Member Supporters may self-nominate for consideration. All seconders must be MMBC Member Supporters in good standing.
Candidates selected for the interview process will be asked to complete our Board competency matrix prior to the interview.
With due consideration to MMBC by-laws and Nominating Committee Guidelines, the Nominating Committee will review all nominations and prepare a slate of directors to be voted on at MMBC’s 2022 Annual General Meeting.

Any nomination not confirmed by MMBC as having been received will be deemed not to have been received. Please ensure you have clearly designated your email address on your nomination documents and have received confirmation of receipt for the nomination you submit.
TIMELINE
October 7, 2022 5:00 pm (ET): Deadline for submissions
October 13-21, 2022: Submission reviews by Nominating Committee
October 24-November 2, 2022: Candidate interviews
November 10, 2022: Final slate presented to MMBC Executive
November 15, 2022: MMBC Board presentation of slate
November 21, 2022: Board slate presented at MMBC AGM in Ottawa
